Threading & Precision Manufacturing LLC, also known as T&PM, a subsidiary of OFSi, provides OCTG threading support for the oil and gas industry with operations in Houston Texas and Odessa Texas. T&PM has six double-ended thread lines, with a size range of 2 3/8″ – 13 5/8″. T&PM supports several connection lines with both premium and semi-premium connections. T&PM also provides API threading support. T&PM has made several upgrades in recent years, adding a second swage, buck-on units with torque turn electronic recording system, and two new thread lines. Moreover, we implemented a pipe traceability system capturing data inputs utilizing Acumatica ERP software on each of the thread lines.

1. Receiving Materials
All raw coupling product and and product certifications are inspected to ensure compliance with the API, and Customer standards. Product is marked with traceability to ensure compliance throughout processing activities.
2. Saw cutting and etching
The product is verified to ERP work order requirements. The first cut of a blank is made, with first article inspected for length, squareness of cut, outside diameter (O.D.) wall thickness, ovality, mother tube heat number, and marked for identification and traceability throughout processes. The blanks are than sent on to the machining process.
3. Internal Threading & Inspection
After setting up the state of the art threading machinery to meet the criteria for the coupling size and type (casing, tubing), the threading process begins with the first article inspection as certified inspectors check each of produced couplings.
4. Wet Magnetic Particle Inspection
All couplings are then tested, per API specifications, using ultraviolet wet magnetic particles to evaluate indications by trained NDE personnel. In this process all aspects of the process are controlled, measured, using calibrated equipment. Finished couplings are free from flaws and defect, which may be detrimental to the finished product.
5. Phosphating
The next step in the process is phosphate coating. The couplings are cleaned, rinsed, phosphate (manganese or zinc), rinsed again, and oiled to produce longevity in storage. The first article is inspected to ensure the API specification and the customer’s requirements have been met.
6. Painting (color/grade table)
Couplings are painted per API standards and stenciled per customer requirements.
7. Final Inspection & Packaging
The final inspection has many aspects to it. The cleanliness, evenness of the phosphating. If deemed ok, the inspector then examines the quality of the exterior paint on the couplings. Next the correctness and legibility of the die stamp and/or paint stencil markings on the product are checked. After examining the quality of the product and the correctness/legibility of the paint stencil markings on the packaging flap, the QA department logs the process for internal records.
8. Shipping / Storage
Lastly the couplings are shrink-wrapped then boxed and stored until the assigned ship date.
